Focus and Scope

Indonesian Journal of Islam and Nature focuses on scholarly studies that explore the relationship between Islam and nature through ethical, theological, social, and policy perspectives. The journal emphasizes how Islamic values, knowledge traditions, and institutions engage with contemporary environmental challenges, sustainability agendas, and natural resource governance, particularly within Indonesian and Muslim society contexts.

The journal publishes original research articles and conceptual papers covering the following areas:

  1. Islamic Environmental Ethics and Thought. Qur’anic, Hadith-based, philosophical, and contemporary Islamic perspectives on nature, ecology, and sustainability.

  2. Islam and Environmental Governance. The role of Islamic institutions, community organizations, and religious leadership in environmental management and policy.

  3. Islam, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development. Islamic approaches to climate change, energy transition, environmental justice, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  4. Islamic Law and Environmental Policy. Fiqh al-bī’ah, maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, and regulatory frameworks related to natural resource management.

  5. Community-Based and Educational Environmental Practices. Environmental education, dawah, and grassroots ecological initiatives inspired by Islamic values.

The journal welcomes interdisciplinary approaches using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methods.
