Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to reconstruct the BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, Incomprehensible) framework through Islamic leadership values to develop an adaptive and resilient leadership model for organizational uncertainty. Method: This study employs a conceptual paper approach based on library research. The analysis was conducted in three stages: identifying the conceptual gap between the VUCA–BANI and Islamic leadership literature, reconstructing each BANI dimension through the values of amanah, sabr–tawakkul, shura, and qada and qadar, and synthesizing these values into a conceptual model grounded in Qur'anic foundations and relevant scholarly literature. Findings: The study demonstrates that these four values constitute an integrated sensemaking framework for addressing systemic fragility, prolonged anxiety, nonlinear disruptions, and incomprehensible situations. Their integration results in the Adaptive-Resilient Islamic Leadership (KIAR) Model, which operates through an interlocking system of moral, spiritual, and organizational values. Implications: The KIAR Model provides a conceptual foundation for strengthening leadership in Islamic educational institutions, da'wah organizations, and other Islamic value-based organizations operating under BANI conditions. Originality: This study proposes the KIAR Model as an Islamic epistemological reconstruction of the BANI framework, positioning Islamic leadership values as an autonomous analytical framework rather than merely a normative complement to Western management concepts.
